So many eyes were on the game between the two English sides, Man City and Liverpool, as they battled to see who was going to lift the community shield.
Everyone wanted to see as the top signings of both teams would perform, as fans and lovers of the game were itching to see how the Haaland and Grealish combo would fare and people also wanted to see how Liverpool’s 100m signing would also perform.
The game started a bit slow for Man City, as Liverpool wasted no time in scoring an early goal, thanks to Alexander Arnold. The Grealish and Haaland combination was not working as many hoped it would be, and in the second half, Pep Guardiola took off Grealish and brought in another summer signing, Alvarez.
Alvarez pushed and put Man city on level with their opponents as he scored an equalizer for his team. But their joy was short lived when Liverpool were awarded a penalty and Salah put another goal in for his team. However, Liverpool’s 100m signing Nunez stole the spotlight when he scored the last goal sealing Liverpool’s victory.
Fans were buzzing following Haaland’s underperformance at the game, as we saw many question why the young striker missed a clear opportunity when he had the chance to give his team an edge.
Overall it was a day for both team’s top signings, where we saw Nunez shine and we saw Haaland take the heat for his team’s loss. There’s still a lot to look forward to, as a new premier league season is kicking off this coming weekend.
