SONIC THE HEDGEHOG:
This movie was released in February 2020, it is an action-adventure comedy film based on the video game franchise published by Sega, I know some of us one way or the other must have played the video game while growing up or even watched the cartoon. Sonic is one of the animations brought to life, I really did appreciate the concept behind it.
It was directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. I would not say the movie is a masterpiece per say, yes I enjoyed the movie but it was definitely what I was expecting. When I saw the trailer, I was excited upon it’s release, but when I watched it, it was below my expectations, I believe it was not worth the hype.
Although it raked a lot of money in the box office, so many people like me expected the best, well I guess some of us were dissapointed, becausmefrom the reviews it has online, most critics agree with me when I say it was below expectation.
Yes, Jim Carrey killed his performance as Eggman, but I believe the makers could have done better with Sonic and at least made his visuals look better. It stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik (Eggman), as well as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and many more.
And I guess we should all be expecting a sequel because after the closing credits, we see a scene where Tails the Fox arrives on earth in search of Sonic. And hopefully Sega works on the fault of this Sonic and make the sequel worthwhile.
