CARPE DIEM
Carpe diem is a word used to urge someone to make the most of the present time and give little time or thought of the future. In order words, it is encouraging one to seize the day.
Nigerian rapper and songwriter, titled his new album, Carpe Diem, it is his 11th studio album, with his last album being released in 2017. After his previous album, he has dropped a few singles and collaborations here and there, up until, the 8th of October 2020.
The album contains 12 songs, which however is not all that I enjoyed, he had a couple of local collaborations on the album, but no international collaborations.
He featured Omah Lay, Bad Boy Timz, Bella Shmurda, Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, Fireboy, Phyno and Peruzzi. Majority of whom are still up and coming artistes. The main singles on the album are Eru and Greenlight, which were released on the 8th of September and 2nd of October respectively.
Both singles had no collaborations. My favorite songs of the album are just 4 out of 12, with them being; Plenty on which he featured fellow label mate, Fireboy, Triumphant on which he featured Bella Shmurda (my best song off the album definitely) as it talks about how far he has come as an artiste, the popular one, Loading ft. Bad boy timz, and Infinty ft Omah Lay.
The album is good generally, even though I didn’t enjoy all the songs off the album, it still had a refreshing sound and still reminds you of the olamide you once knew. It is definitely worth a listen to, and it shows how his sound has evolved over time.
