West Ham United are in talks about a deal for Arsenal forward Lucas Perez, with the forward keen on staying in London and the Premier League, sources have told ESPN FC.
West Ham are among several clubs to have expressed an interest in Perez, who is surplus to requirements at the Emirates after the signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the last two transfer windows.
Sources said West Ham are hoping to wrap up a deal before the deadline on Thursday and that Perez wants to remain in London and prove himself in the Premier League.
Perez was bought from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016 for around £17 million, but he could not get regular playing time and was sent back to the club on loan last season.
He could be sold at a cut-price rate, though, with reports claiming Arsenal may settle for around £5m. Perez took part in Arsenal’s tour of Singapore but was not involved in the win over Lazio in Stockholm on Saturday.
Head coach Unai Emery said after that match that the club is likely to sell a couple of players this week as they look to trim the squad.
Among the players who could exit is Calum Chambers, as sources have told ESPN FC that Arsenal are near a deal to loan him to Fulham.
