They have been bickering back and forth for three years.
But on Saturday TMZ reported Taylor Swift might make up with Katy Perry on Sunday at the MTV VMAs. Perry is hosting the show and Swift has the song Look What You Made Me Do to promote.
However, soon after that report surfaced, VMA producer Jesse Ignjatovic told People: ‘Taylor has been on the show many times and [has] performed with a new album coming, but not this time. I definitely wish she was coming on and performing.’ The source said the timing is perfect for a reunion because Swift has her new album Reputation, which comes out November 10, to promote.
And she needs to plug hew new song Look What You Made Me Do, which was just released and is on top of the charts already.
Sources tell TMZ that her new tune is not about Perry. It was widely assumed Swift’s song Bad Blood is about Katy. So far Swift’s camp has not confirmed if she will make an entrance at the big music event.
Meanwhile, Katy has a new song to promote as well: Swish Swish. The lyrics read: ‘Don’t lose no sleep Don’t need opinions From a shellfish or a sheep Don’t you come for me No, not today You’re calculated I got your number ‘Cause you’re a joker And I’m a courtside killer queen And you will kiss the ring You best believe.’
This single is obviously about Swift as she makes several references to the former country darling in her music video. The video shows Katy on the Tigers basketball team while a man with a blonde wig is on a team called the Sheeps.
Katy famously called Taylor a Regina George in sheep’s clothing. Regina is the backstabber played by Rachel McAdams from the Lindsay Lohan movie Mean Girls.
So it may not be as smooth as silk if these two music titans clash on the stage of the VMAs. But the TMZ source added that it would help make the show memorable.
The event, which will take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California, is set to air live on MTV at 8 p.m. ET. At approximately 6:15 p.m. ET, the MTV network will begin airing pre-coverage of the show, during which fans will get to see award nominees like SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Fifth Harmony grace the red carpet.
