It’s her 50th birthday today and Celine Dion’s team took to Facebook to celebrate the French Canadian star’s milestone with a series of throwback snaps.
In the earliest shot, the hitmaker is just a tot wearing a huge pair of glasses. And the pretty brunette is still a child as she clutches a microphone and sings intently in another snap.
She actually had her first No. 1 hit when she was just 12 with a song she wrote with her mom Therese and brother Jacques. Brother Michel sent it off to music manager Rene Angelil who signed her and guided her career, eventually marrying the star in 1994 despite the 26-year age difference.
The Because You Love Me singer looked very different as a 14-year-old on her first trip to Paris. Celine posed with the Eiffel Tower in the background, looking adorable in a short sleeved white blouse, a red skirt plus white shoes and socks.
Two years later the bare-faced 16-year-old had long wavy hair when she opened for French singer and celebrity Patrick Sébastien at Paris Olympia in November 1984.
In one publicity photo, the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker wore a white blazer and sat with her back to the camera, but turned her head to pose for the snap. Another shot showed her leaning on her hand for a close-up and the third saw her showing off her glowing complexion in a zoomed in image of her smiling.
By 1988, when she won the European Song Contest singing for Switzerland, Celine’s brunette tresses were styled in trendy bubble curls.
Treated as royalty in her native Quebec, Celine looked fabulous in a frothy white gown when she married Rene in 1994 despite the 26-year age difference.
