Are you looking for crime, action, thriller and mystery all in one series? The blacklist is there for you.
Blacklist is an American series, that will definitely keep you at the edge of your feet. It simply talks about a wanted fugitive who mysteriously surrenders himself to the FBI and offers to help them in capturing other criminals, but his sole condition is on the fact that he would work only with the new recruit, Elizabeth Keen.
The series is actually very long, with 154 episodes and 8 seasons to its name. For some people it may seem very long, as it actually is. The question is, is it worth it? I feel like the series was too long, as the story started getting quite confusing and intertwined, the Reddington we know is not the real Reddington, her mother is not her real mother, the plot was getting a bit twisted and unnecessary, and I’m not excited to watch the new season that was just released. Over 7 years of shooting a series, it gets too long, boring and unnecessary at a point.
Moving on to the actors, I believe most people are still watching the show because of the role Reddington who was played by James Spader. In short, his performance is everything that makes this show great and I suspect he’s somehow improved the template like performances of his supporting actors over time. The man is just a joy to watch and makes an improbable character govt spy turned international criminal mastermind delightful and believable.
But the character of the lead actress Elizabeth Keen was not it for me, her acting and her character was just a bit off, most viewers would actually agree if I say her character was a tad bit too gullible, and it got to a point where it was annoying, it just put off the fire to the series. Instances where you just rub your hand across your face and yell, why she was acting that way. Yes it is all part of the script, but instances like that just puts the audience off.
Great series, if it had just a few seasons to its name, but over 154 episodes? The series began to derail at a point.
