David Beckham has revealed he used to hide his love of Oasis as the group were fierce Manchester City fans.
The former footballer – who famously played for rival team Manchester United – confessed that he didn’t want to admit his musical tastes as there was such tension in the city.
Speaking to SoccerBible the 42-year-old sportsman admitted: ‘I used to go to the odd Oasis gig even though it was frowned upon them being City fans and me being a United fan and a United player.’ Revealing that he used to meet up with members of Oasis and The Stone Roses, he added: ‘I loved those bands, but as soon as we’re together all we talk about is football and it’s the first thing they want to talk about.
‘I sit with Noel [Gallagher] and all he wants to talk about is how c**p United were and how great City are.’ David will no doubt be delighted to know that there’s a chance Oasis could reform eight years after Noel quit the band.
Speaking on BBC’s The One Show on Thursday, Noel was pressed on whether the band would reunite if they received an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
He admitted: ‘I’d do it. I guess you’d have to [reunite] to accept it. That’s if you accept it. I would be thrilled to do it.’
When he was pressed on whether he would honour his word, he said: ‘I’m gonna say no. We can say yes. Shall we say yes?’
The Wonderwall singer added: ‘Absolutely. I would be thrilled to do it.’ The musician has been warring with his younger sibling and musical rival since their, and although the pair are still at loggerheads, Liam Gallagher recently admitted he would be open to the possibility of them meeting up and putting the past behind them.
He told The Sunday Mirror: ‘I hope we make up. Not just for Oasis but for brothers. Enough is enough now. I know I wind him up. I have put it out there enough times, but I think he doesn’t want to know. I reckon we would have to meet up and hug it out, as they say.’
However, Noel was quick to shoot down the claims during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show last week when he claimed Liam was ‘obsessed’ with him.
Liam later hit back by tweeting: ‘I think he’s obsessed with me the creepy little tart’.
