Happy holidays guys, so on the 26th of December 2019, i was at the Ikeja City mall to watch the movie; “Your Excellency”. It was Funke Akindele’s debut as a director and no lies for me it was an amazing movie.
Your Excellency tells the story of Chief Olalekan Ajadi, a bumbling, billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is obsessed with Donald Trump. Just when his campaign looks set to be another disaster, Ajadi is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender – all through the power of social media.
As the political drama unfolds, it seems possible that even the most inept candidate, with little to offer voters except viral soundbites, dance moves and amusing antics. Guys this movie was a comedic and satirical approach to the Nigerian political scene.
Every action every move in this movie, was comedic representation of events that happened in the Nigerian political scene throughout the year and it made it enjoyable to watch and also diffuses the tensions that arose at that time. Honestly Funke Akindele Bello left no stone unturned in the production, cast and also storyline.
Although the ending was unsettling but overall this was a lovely effort. I rate the movie a 7.5/10.
