Hi guys as we all know twitter is like the legit location for all information, so i recently stumbled on a post that said; Actor and Lagos state Assembly member Desmond Elliot was calling for the ban on foreign movies to help support and promote local content, which simply means Nigerian movies.
Well as we all know Local woman was shocked by this request which simply pointed out how nollywood felt threatened by the “other Woods” yeah i mean movie industries. This is not surprising because these movie industries have continued to serve better contents, improved contents as well this pushes me to ask the question what is stopping nollywood from increasing the quality of their production, putting out better storylines and also reorganising and redeveloping marketing strategies to garner the attention of people and also make the interest in their movies be at its peak before release.
A very few movie directors, producers and even playwrights have seen that the only way to reach out to people in this new age is to offer nothing but quality which is what they reach out to do and are usually rewarded for it, im actually talking aboutabout people like Kemi Adetiba who put out Wedding Party and King of Boys, Geniveve Nnaji who put out Lionheart, Kunle Afolayan who put out Figurine, Omoni Oboli who put out Moms at War.
In my opinion the only time Nollywood would maintain its revelance is if there is a shift towards putting out better contents, instead of banning their counterparts they should instead learn from them and grow .
My very own two kobo
King of boys and Hakkunde is one of the best to come from Bollywood. 70% of their movies are trash
From Nollywood I mean
