Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi popularly known as Seyi Vibez is a street-hop artist which has taken the street by a chokehold in recent times.
Seyi Vibez came into the limelight with his hit song Billion Dollar baby released in 2021. This is coming after couple of songs which has been street anthems, giving him features with Zlatan, Bella Shmurda, Idowest, and Rexxie who as at then were bigger artists.
He rose into stardom due to his distinctive style of making music, and his ability of releasing relatable music with lyrics that show his connection to the street. His ability to use trending street slangs and motivational lyrics serves as an added advantage.
His debut album, “No Seyi No Vibes” was released in 2021, and has since then released 4 more albums with “Thy Kingdom Come” his latest album release.
As opposed the influence Seyi Vibez has on the street, social media users seem not to be connected with his style of music. The major reason being his music delivery and lyrics which seems to be his distinctive features for being accepted in the street.
Sampling the opinions of his lovers in the street, the ability of Seyi Vibez to give a blend of Fuji (a popular genre in the Nigeria music scene) and Afrobeats gives him an edge over other artists. In contrast to Asake who does a similar style of music, He is deeply rooted to the street linguals while Asake takes the blend to another level with a mix of class and “tushed” lyrics.
His versatility is not talked about enough as he can easily jump on any beat as seen in his debut album “No Seyi No Vibes” which is filled with melodies to introduce him in the industry. Amapiano and Afrobeats has been shown to be his strength and he has proved that with his biggest single “Chance (Na Ham)” and albums like “Billion Dollar Baby” and “Thy Kingdom Come“.
He elevated a newly conceived genre – Afro-adura -, pioneered by artists like Barry Jhay, Balloranking and the likes.
