Drake rolls out Certified Lover Boy.
It was only a minute since Donda dropped, and Drake release his sixth studio album.
The rivalry between the two artists is not hidden, and like what Certified Lover Boy is all about, Drake brings his pettiness into the beef, releasing His album only a week after Kanye’s album dropped.
Certified Lover Boy consists of 21 tracks with A-list features from Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Rick Ross and a surprise feature from Nigeria sound box, Tems.
There was a lot of interest for the album with the build up around the album having Drake put up billboards to announce tracklist of the album. There was a lot of expectation for the track with Jay-Z as he already had a feature of Kanye West’s Donda album earlier.
Love All featuring Jay-Z was the first track I listened to on the album, talking about not feeling safe after all what he has become in the industry and the empire he has built for himself. The track meets expectation as both rappers were on top of their game with lyrics and delivery on the track.
Fair Trade further exerts what the album is all about, which is, what Drake was, what He is now, and what He is about to become. The track features Travis Scott, talking about losing and gaining friends/people in life and in the industry.
Unlike the usual Drake having a hit song on an album easily. Certified Lover Boy is different, any of the song can easily be a favorite but not necessarily a hit. Fountain featuring Tems is another one, Tems was incredible with her voice on the track and definitely owned the song.
Champagne Poetry, The Remorse, In The Bible, Knife Talk and No Friends in the Industry are also notable tracks to look at. Listen to the album below:
