Serial killers are often viewed as nuisance to the society but what has continued to make people live in fear is the fact that their urge to kill knows zero to no bounds. Meet the serial killer Harold Shipman.

People have tried to stay safe and far away from cases like this but nothing would shock you than this case of a man that was supposed to protect sick people in the hospital but decided to take their lives instead.
Who is this child of darkness?
Born on the 14th of January 1946 in England, the parents of Harold Shipman, whose full name was Harold Frederick Shipman, had no idea that they were raising someone who would turn out to be one of the world’s most dangerous person in his later years.
What is known to the general public is that serial killer Harold Shipman was born in Manchester to a working-class family, most people had called him a bright child that ended up showing interest in medicine after seeing his mother get treatment for lung cancer.
In 1970 he succeeded in receiving a medical degree from Leeds University, and then went on to become a general practitioner few years later in a town called Todmorden in Lancashire.

The atrocities of The serial killer Harold Shipman can’t not be explained in a single article as he scared everyone even those that gave his sentencing and completed his arrest.
He committed the killing of over 250 patients in the hospital where he worked. This shocked many because they could not comprehend the fact that he had completed the killings of these patients undetected.
The first sign of Mr. Shipman was noticed in 1975, it was discovered that the dangerous individual had on his own written several fraudulent prescriptions for the drug opiate pethidine for his own personal use.

It was soon discovered because he had gotten addicted to the drug. This prompted the action of him getting forced out of his practice and straight into drug rehabilitation.
One of Mr. Shipman’s ever spotted first kill was far back as in 1998, where an elderly woman who was 81 years of age was found dead in her house only a few hours after the supposed doctor had visited her.
This was a shocker to her family as she had been very healthy before she had the doctor’s appointment. What became a red flag was however the fact that in her will the doctor who was Mr. Shipman was named as a beneficiary of her estate which was valued around 400,000 pounds at that time.
After escaping with his first kill this later became a pattern he adopted and went on a killing spree till he was arrested in 2000.
At the time of his arrested he was charged for the death of just 15 people but when the court had ordered for further investigation the toll rose to 250 people.
How was he discovered?
As the death toll of his patients continued to rise and the fact that he continued to appear as a beneficiary in the will of his dead patients people began to get suspicious of Mr. Shipman.
This later led to his arrest and finally his sentencing. It was revealed that he had injected his victims with lethal doses of pain killers by the name of diamorphine and he then went ahead to sigh the cause of death of these patients as natural causes on the death certificate.
Even though the first prominent case had been in 1998 it was believed that Shipman had gone on a killing spree as far back as 1971.
