Leroy Sane has announced the birth of his daughter Rio Stella after the Manchester City star was granted permission to leave Germany international duty.
Winger Sane left Germany training after they drew with France in their UEFA Nations League campaign on Thursday – with the City ace appearing for seven minutes.
The 22-year-old’s departure meant he would miss Sunday’s friendly with Peru in Sinsheim.
But Sane revealed in an ecstatic Twitter message that he had pulled out of playing for his nation to welcome a new arrival into his family.
“Incredibly happy to let you know about the birth of my daughter last night Mother and child are doing fine,” Sane raved.
Speaking to BILD , Sane’s dad Souleyman Sane said: “My granddaughter was born yesterday, we are very happy. Her name is Rio Stella.”
“Special thank you to the Germany team and my coach Jogi Low for letting me leave to be at my daughter’s birth. Of course I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the team tomorrow!”
Sane’s exit, which was originally due to “personal reasons”, came just days after his attitude was called into question by teammate Toni Kroos.
“Sometimes you have the feeling with Leroy’s body language that it’s all the same if we win or lose,” Kroos said.
