Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has officially responded to the N500 million lawsuit filed against her by Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, accusing him of defamation.
In a statement released on her official social media accounts, Iyabo Ojo expressed her disappointment in the manner in which the legal action was brought to her attention.
In the lawsuit filed by Naira Marley, the singer demanded a public apology from Iyabo Ojo or threatened to pursue legal proceedings that could result in damages totaling N500 million.
Naira Marley alleged that the actress had spread false and malicious content about him on her Instagram page.
However, Iyabo Ojo, pointed out that the legal documents were not served to her privately but were instead disseminated online.
In response, she filed a counterclaim against Naira Marley, asserting that he failed to serve her the lawsuit personally or through mail, raising concerns of potential blackmail.
Shockingly, Iyabo Ojo is now demanding a substantial sum of N1 billion from the singer for what she perceives as deliberately misleading the public.
She wrote;
“MY RESPONSE TO THE LETTER FROM MR OLALEKAN OJO SAN DELIBERATELY CIRCULATED OVER SOCIAL AND PRINT MEDIA WITHOUT DESERVING COURTESY TO SERVE ME.
I look forward to hearing from them at no distant time, please.
Yours sincerely,
Iyabo Ojo”.
