Goals from Liverpool’s lethal attacking unit of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge rocked their title rivals.
Arsenal barely threatened and looked all at sea with three men at the back. And the performance will raise once question marks over Wenger’s transfer policy with Thursday’s deadline looming.
Instead, Liverpool dominated the ball and record-signing Salah looked lethal all afternoon alongside Firmino and Mane.
It was a Gunners mistake that led to the opener and the visitors lost possession in midfield and in an instant Joe Gomez was crossing for Firmino to head home.
Mane soon made it 2-0 this time on the counter attack, displaying the sort of clinical finishing a Wenger side of old would have deemed routine.
And when another defensive lapse gave Salah a whole half to run in on goal unimpeded to score the third, Arsenal’s heads dropped.
Sturridge added a fourth – heading home Salah’s cross after another counter that started in Liverpool’s own box.
