Arsenal win the Community Shield on penalties with Olivier Giroud sealing victory from the spot, after misses by Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Morata for Chelsea.
With an early first half goal coming from Victor Moses after a return header by Cahill from Xhakha’s poor clearance, Arsenal got back in the game after a red card to Pedro from an awful tackle on Elneny. The goal came from a resulting freekick after the tackle and Sead Kolasinac was there to convert Xhakha’s setpiece with an header.
It was straight to penalties and Arsenal converted all their 4 penalties coming from Walcott, Monreal, Chamberlain and Giroud. Cahill was the only one to score from the spot for Chelsea with Courtois and new signing Morata missing.
This is the 3rd Community Shield win for Arsenal in 4 seasons and the 7th in their History.
