A lot of controversy has rocked the camp of the Presidency since been re-elected in 2019. President Muhammad Buhari and VIce President, Yemi Osinbajo were re-elected back in to power in 2019 defeating close opponent, Abubakar Atiku of PDP.
The major promises of the duo during the campaing were: reducing insecurity, creating more jobs for unemployed youths, paying N5,000 to poor household, making the value of Naira increae against other currencies. None of these promises have been fulfilled and worse off detoriating the condition of the nation.
The biggest low from the present regime happened October, 2020 as the youths stood up to protest against Bad Governance and Police brutality. The #EndSars protest lasted for weeks, getting attention from international bodies, but it never got attention from the Federal Government as they treated it as a target against the Presidency. The Presidency chose violence in contrast to hearing the needs of the youth and citizens of the country, a lot of youths were killed across the country on the 20th of October with Lekki, Lagos recording the highest assault and casualty.

The Federal Government released a statement claiming the assault never happened, later admitted to the Army being present but using blanks then admitting to Army using bullets but only killing two peope. Till date, the unfortunate incident was swept under the carpet as it has fulfilled the major cause which was causing havoc in the #EndSars movement and also stopping the citizen’s cry for better governance.
The major fear and concern of citizens has been insecurity, low cost of living compared to inflation and scarcity rocking the country while salary of workers are not been paid by different states. Another concern is different policy choking and frustrating young business and startups from keeping up in the business climate.
Recentlly, the Federal Government led by Muhammad Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo has been facing another low with lot of insecurity incidence rocking different statess in the country yet there’s no reaction from the Presidency. Previous week, Monday (26/04/2021) started off with terrorist group, Boko Haram hoisting their flag in Niger State, making it two states in the Country with Borno state being the first.
Other kidnappings and shooting incidents were recorded in states like Kaduna, Benue, Lagos, Oyo, Imo, Anambra. Greenfield university, Kaduna lost three students to kidnappers as the school was raided and students abducted, after days, the students were killed. The bandits as the are often called by the Federal Government have been terrorising states in Nigeria coming off as Fulani Herdsmen to citizens lucky enough to have escaped after an encounter with them.
On Thursday, Senator Sam Adeyemi raised the issue in the House of Senate but co-Senator and wife of Former Governor of Lagos State, Remi Tinubu painted the Senator as “wolf in sheep clothing”, claiming he was working with PDP to bring down the tenure of Buhari and Osinbajo while serving under APC.
None of these pressing issues have been tackled by the Presidency as they’ve been tagged as target to takeover power and also see to the splitting of the country.
With “One Nigeria” being threatened, do you think Buhari shoulld still be President of the country or the House of Senate should raise a motion to impeach him or ask him to resign?
