This year just seems to be a year of movie releases, as we are practically seeing new movies get released every day.
While some of them are worth watching and are very interesting, well others are not so interesting and are often seen as a waste of time, while others are just there, not so interesting and not a waste of time either.
And one movie that falls into the category of “just there” is Cruella. The movie that was released this year did not live up to the hype that it was getting.
Even before watching the movie, I saw a lot of people speak highly about the movie, and when I watched it, I just did not see what they saw that made them think it was mind-blowing.
Yes, the movie was not boring, but it was not entirely fun either, as the storyline had the same old plot of Disney movies, whereby the girl becomes the Princess, that sort of plot.
Just that Cruella is much darker than the other fairytale stories.
Cruella talks about a young girl named Estella, but was also nicknamed Cruella because of her cruel nature. She blamed herself for her mother’s death because she thought she was the one who released the dogs that pushed her off the cliff.
But when she realises that the Baronness was the one that summoned the dogs, she went on a revenge hunt, only to find out that the Baronness in question is her real mother, while the woman who was pushed off a cliff was just a cleaner who took Cruella in her care when the Baronness threw her away to die.
Definitely, a sappy and fairytale story, which might be enjoyable for others, but for me, I didn’t see anything special in the movie, as it was just another movie you watch to keep boredom away.
The movie stars the likes of Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter, Emily Becham, Kirby Howell and many more. And with a budget of $100 million, the movie raked a total of $225 million in box office.
