Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two brothers for allegedly possessing fake Nigeria currencies and using same to buy goods from unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspects: Sunday Durosinmi Onikoyi, 29 years old and Felix Durosinmi Onikoyi aged 20 years, both of 30, Akala Street, Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos were arrested on 22nd of August 2019.
The arrest followed a distress call made by one Moses Nwese, of Gas-line area of Ijoko, Ota, who alleged that two men came to his shop to buy two bags of rice and gave him the sum of N29,000 in one thousand Naira denominations.
The brothers left his shop in a hurry while he was counting the money. He later discovered that all the notes were fake. .
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango Ota Division, Godwin Idehai, who was on routine patrol of the area with his men, chased the suspects and arrested them in a Honda Odyssey car.
When a search was conducted on the suspects, N78,000 fake one thousand naira notes were recovered. Also recovered from them were one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle and 10 bags of rice.
